Emyria – Levin Health’s Athlete Support Program
The Levin Health’s Athlete Support Program (LASP) was designed to support former athletes experiencing chronic pain from their time in elite sports and for whom traditional treatments were ineffective. The observational program, conducted by Emyria’s Emerald Clinics data registry, monitored and measured the effectiveness, safety and tolerability of medicinal cannabis treatment for retired athletes.
Participants Cohort
Twenty participants were selected for this program. The participants reported that substantial pain was affecting their daily physical functioning. Patient ages ranged from 34 to 79 years.
Medication
Patients were prescribed:
- CBD-dominant medicinal cannabis oil and/or
- CBD:THC-balanced medicinal cannabis oil
Data Analysis
At the end of the program, the data support the tolerability of treatment with medicinal cannabis oil. Additionally, participants self-reported an improvement in:
- Physical functioning
- Stress levels
- Sleep
By investing in Australian research to clinically validate the real-world efficacy of cannabis medicines for the treatment of chronic pain, Levin Health is committed to supporting patients through access and advocacy for medicinal cannabis.
